Need Special Parts? Me too, and Zynga isn't helping.

Apparently Zynga's idea of "fixing" something is to break other things such to the point that you forgot your original complaint. A great concept for customer retention! /sarcasm

Try again, Zynga.

Last week, the problem arose that we were ONLY getting blue mystery bags in return for gifts. To "fix" that, Zynga broke how our free gift links work. Zynga would be well-advised to remember that these actions piss off players, and when players get pissed, they think about quitting. I think Zynga needs to consider what the players want, instead of taking the attitude that since the gift links are not of Zynga's making, it doesn't matter if they're broken.

It's been reported by at least one other site that you still get the gift when clicking on free gift links, even if you get the PoPiggy. At least one person in my news feed also stated this was the case. However, I have not had any luck whatsoever with this method, despite several tests and checks; I am just not getting the parts. Clearly, Zynga can't do for one what they do for the other, not even errors and broken game features, which is pretty sh*tty.

As of their last report, Spockholm is still trying to sort out the issue on their end. It's worth noting that these gifting issues aren't the fault of the scripters. When Zynga changes things in the game, it often interferes with the scripts. And since Zynga chooses to alienate script-users, despite their being a fair portion of the player base, it remains up to the scripters to figure out a fix on their end. So many thanks to the scripters, and two middle fingers up for Zynga.

So as it stands, for at least some of us, the only way to get the items that we need is to gift them. The old-fashioned way, which means navigating Zynga's slow-loading, spinning bullet-laden pages, requiring many clicks and (on my part) sighs of frustration.

In truth, the best way to get the parts you needed was ALWAYS to send out gifts, though. Players are highly likely to return the gifts that are sent to them. I typically have only relied on posting gift links in a pinch, as usually I can get a few back quickly from my news feed.

But I'm ALWAYS short on Special Parts. After a few rounds of sending out Special Parts Zynga-style, I finally made myself a link to more-quickly load the screen to send Special Parts. These gifts sent from inside the game do allow other players to return Special Parts back to you, as evidenced by the fact that I went from 0 to over 70 Special Parts within the past couple of hours.

gift links are broken again

Suddenly, I find that NO gift links are working. Not Linkanator's, not FBMWAddon's. This is getting ridiculous. Zynga, if you think breaking gift links is "fixing" the problem about only getting blue mystery bags in return, think again. Can't you just fix the problem without breaking everything else?

Fix the problem with gift links. Fix ALL the damn problems with gifting. This is just getting stoopid.

WTF is wrong with Free Gift Links?

Something is seriously messed up with Free Gift Links. This hopefully is a mistake, because if Zynga goes screwing around with this, they are going to have a lot of pissed off players--me among them.

Try posting some free gift links, and then watch your ZMC to see what's being sent back to you. If you're experiencing what I'm experiencing, all you're getting in return is blue mystery bags.

Which, I don't think many people give a flying f*ck about blue mystery bags; we post free gift links of the items that we wish to have returned to us.

Zynga? Fix it. Fix it FAST. This is bullshit.

John's Mafia Tools: working Link-a-nator alternative

UPDATE: Spockholm has updated Link-a-nator.

Many players are wondering how the heck a few other players are still posting gift links, with the main scripts temporarily down for the count due to the change in how free gifts are accepted. I showed you a new beta version of FBMWAddon earlier. Spockholm has been working on an update, and knowing them, we won't have to wait long.

When I saw Mimi J. posting Spock gift links though, I had to ask how she was doing it, since my Linkanator still wasn't working. She pointed me in the direction of John's Mafia Tools, where a version of Spock's Link-a-nator has already been updated to handle the gifting changes.

I did a quick check to verify that it does work. It appears and posts pretty much exactly the same as the original Link-a-nator.

There are some other script mods and backups to be found, but I haven't poked through them as of yet. Although, I was amused and flattered to see a copy of our Mr. Wizard's One bookmarklet there. I'll have to be sure and show that to Mr. Wizard :0)

Free Gifts: Zynga, you're doing it wrong

Another major screw-up, brought to you by Zynga. We got the "updated" free gifting system in our game last night, and that was all fine and dandy until we realized that it broke two other aspects of free gifts. Why in the hell Zynga can't be bothered to test this out with actual players *cough*PAC*cough* is beyond me; this is really a stupid situation that could have easily been avoided. Whatever inhouse testing they claim they do is obviously worthless.

Free gift links are an important aspect of the game for many of us, and all gift link generators are currently broken. If Zynga assumes that their new, broken free gift system is going to alleviate the need or desire for free gift link generators, they're dead wrong.

The other issue is that gift requests are not disappearing from your Facebook requests page after you accept them the first time. Best to just leave those alone for now. Zynga has acknowledged that much.

Due to a system upgrade to the Gift Request page, which includes an increase to the maximum limit to the number of gift/requests that players can send at a time, we have encountered an issue where gifts that have already been accepted both in-game and through the Facebook Game Requests are not being removed from the Facebook Game Request feed on players accounts.

This is a display and communication issue only, and we are currently working towards finding a resolution.  Players are not losing any gifts so there is not a need to submit a ticket for this issue as Customer Service agents will not be able to make any adjustments or credits to your account over this matter.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused and recommend that you accept your gifts in-game in order to prevent any confusion until we have made the correct adjustments.
