"New" Boss Fight?

Zynga never ceases to amaze me.  The timing of the ridiculous "New" Boss Fight with Mimi La Noir is impeccable.  Yesterday we witnessed what was probably one of the most epic fails the game has ever known.  Hundreds of items were suddenly giftable.  Some of those were stupidly made giftable (in my opinion), like gold treasure chest keys and knob wrenches. Of most interest to me were special parts and exotic animal feed (EAF), because I always need more.  But in classic Zynga fashion, they OVER corrected and took away MOST of the items' giftability.  No more gifting of special parts and EAF.  In half a day the trading community went through an entire life cycle - reincarnation, life, and death - déjà vu all over again. Coinciding with this catastrophe was the return of the family boss fight (FBF). What I find to be another FAIL is that nothing is really different.....

When rumors spread of the return of the FBF, I'd hoped there might be all new loot to fit in with the evolution of current loot stats.  But of course I was an idiot for thinking Zynga would do something rational.  With the exception of maybe a couple superior items that i don't recall seeing before, and of course the new holy grail item (the Quick Draw 203/203), nothing has changed other than the name.....Mimi La Noir (facepalm).  Even the top item is not that awesome.  With how much loot scores have shifted upward, I would have expected the top item to be higher than 203/203.  Hell, the crates in the market place offer items that are approaching 200.  Not like it matters though, since so few people have ever earned the top FBF loot item legitimately. I would only see my scores change by 65 points lol. WOW I gotta get one of those :P

In conclusion, I don't even care that the boss fights are back.  It's a big snoozefest.  I'll join the FBFs simply to hand out whatever buffs people are beggin for, but not even the 3.0 stamina/XP ratio interests me.  I'll keep using my stamina on the fightlist and my rivals.

When I got online this evening a nice new Pop-Up reared it's head. 

Zynga wants to hear from us again. When I finished this little part, another Pop-up!

I'm American, I *love* surveys that ask my opinion and I'm more than glad to give it, so let's have MORE!

Right off the bat I am worried that Zynga has decided to do away with Families. All of these questions are about the Family things.

I don't know about you but I really *do* *love* all the family things we do. Battles, Boss Fights, Property, and yeah when is anything going to happen with the third family property? I ask CS every time I talk to them and get the same stale answer "We're working on it" yeah right.

On the very last part where there is a blank space to type in, I asked them to please bring back the family chat so I can help my family in wars, and also about the third family property (again).

The 'Superior' rewards are the Silver Bullet, Shell Beret, Chinchilla, Shock Trooper, and a seriously bad-a$s lookin' Ice Cycle. I want the Ice Cycle just because it looks cool.

I'm more of a passive boss fighter and so I did not notice this, but several in my Family group are saying that the damage incurred per hit in this boss fight is noticeably lower.

Boss fight selection issues are cropping up.  The pic above is directly from my own attempt to select a role in the boss fight.  We had another peep try to select and no screen whatsoever popped up.  The next two had the standard box & made their choices as usual.

Consider yourself warned - in case the sheer volume of new nonsense in the game had not triggered the idea that the game would start having issues...here's your sign.

I don't know how you do boss fights in your family, but in mine - I've chosen to x out that screen and try again later.

Now I'll start watching for the nifty banner at the top of the game saying they know there are issues...and blah, blah, blah.

Bring on the gold mystery bags I say!

If you've been hearing that both of the active Family Boss Fights, Dr. Sarah Swift and Jimmy Lechon, now come with cool down timers, unfortunately this seems to be the case. I'm told that this is intentional. This is really going to tick off a lot of players, but the excuse I was given was that the no cool down thing was "just for a limited time".

I think it's pretty crappy that both bosses have cool down timers, and it seems Zynga is trying to force players to pay. As I saw this person comment, it's too bad that some Families will pay to reset the timers. I agree with him; everyone should be furious.

I also heard from someone that the 5 buffs you have to give your Family members no longer regenerate after 30 minutes. I still see a half hour buff timer in my boss fights, so this is either not true or is not the case for all. I think I did notice that the timer didn't start immediately after I sent the first buff, that may be what people are noticing.

Clyde Axworthy to bite the bullet, replaced by Dr. Sarah Swift family boss fight

This probably won't surprise anyone at all, but soon we'll be back down to 2 boss fights. As stated on the Mafia Wars blog, Clyde Axworthy is being replaced by Dr. Sarah Swift. Again they say you may not see the Dr. Sarah Swift family boss fight until your family has defeated Clyde Axworthy for the last time, but most families already have the new boss fight irregardless of being done with Clyde or not. 

Clyde Axworthy is being pushed out* by Dr. Sarah Swift, the new Family Boss who thinks there's not enough room for the both of 'em. Use the collaborative strength of your family to show her that she's not as dangerous as she thinks she is, and be among the top contributors to the fight for a chance to recieve the Supercharged Death Ray (201/201) when your family beats her!

 Family Boss Fights pit your entire family against an epic boss. In the case of Dr. Sarah Swift, you'll have 7 days to reduce her 1,250,000 health to zero. (You may have more or less time to take out future Family Bosses.) Whenever the timer runs out on a Family Boss Fight, the boss' health resets and you will have another chance to prove your family is in charge.

 *Note: If your family is currently engaged in a Family Boss Fight with Clyde Axworthy, you may have to complete that fight in order for Dr. Sarah Swift to become available.

There is a Disturbance in the Force

...several disturbances, in fact. I suddenly found myself booted out of the game, after which I was greeted with a pretty white screen. My Family member Ann found invisible Family Boss Fights (shown above). Some are receiving strange errors in a pop-up message, others can't get in at all. Still others report that many scripts suddenly stopped working. I noticed I couldn't click to change the view Recent News in my Player Updates.

Ice Season 07 ending soon

You still have a little while longer to get ices in for the current Ice Season 07. How far did you get? I should easily make Diamond 3 this time, but I wanted Diamond 5. I was distracted by the Family boss fight with Jeff The Knife for a few days and that put me off track. Damn you Jeff :-/

Epic Family Boss Fights

We're excited to announce your family will soon be facing some epic bosses, starting with Jeff The Knife. Usually, you are able to complete the Boss Fights on your own, but this time, it will take the collaborative strength of your family to defeat them! Hop on your Thai Centipede and pull your Laser Squirrel out because this will be no easy feat.

So we don't really know what "soon" is, but we do know that a bunch of new inventory items were added to our inventory -- and then pulled again. I KNOW it was there, but *poof* now it's not.

That's almost 30 items there. I look to see them back in inventory in the near future, along with a boring, Raven-like boss fight for us to get out of the way.

This and Next Week "8/19"

The official Mafia Wars blog finally got around to releasing this week's update of This And Next Week. Or maybe they have changed the posting from Friday to Monday, who knows.

Anyhoo, the Released This Week portion I usually skip over. There's nothing of note there.

Bug Fixes this week does contain a noteworthy entry that I'm anxious to check out.

BUG: The Rivals list was not accurately displaying which players were iced.
FIXED: The Rivals list now more accurately displays which players are alive.

The rivals list was a great idea of Zynga's, but for the longest time we haven't been able to see which of them would be 'live targets', like we can see live or iced opponents on the fight list. You couldn't tell for sure until you actually tapped them with an attack. I haven't been making much use of my rivals list lately, but now that I've read this tidbit, I'm suddenly anxious to call on some old friends :0)

So the Family boss fight is on the schedule again. Knowing that it's probably going to be just like the Raven and all the other boring boss fights of late, I can't say I'm excited about this one. Although, I guess it would be interesting to have a new set of boss fight combos to figure out.

The Boost Mastery Event, Arch Enemies, sounds like it's going to be very similar to the Freedom Fighters event we saw at the end of June. A gifting event, where the gifts are usable boosts. Fair enough, I didn't mind that one. Provided they keep spacing out the events.

Zynga's also still looking for player feed back on a couple of items. Read HERE for information on the Gold Mystery Bag survey.

It seems they're still pushing their player survey about the new property collection system "Union Hall" to be found on your Mafia Wars homepage. Why does that irk me? Because the bastages haven't bothered finishing the freaking rollout. I STILL don't have it.
