Blame it on the Rain. Raven Help and Combos

The Raven, he is back in all his Milli Vanilli reject glory to haunt your achievements and dangle a pretty decent loot item, which lets face it, this is one of the cooler items with decent stats. We are currently inundated with special events, property builds and missions. Of all of them this one is the one most stamina heavy fighters want to complete, especially if you missed your chance last time around and that grayed out achievement has been haunting your dreams. So I have done some digging with the help of the {M} family of players and we have a few combos and info we would like to share with you.

I just beat this last night. I was going about my icing of random players and all of sudden this pops up on the fight list.

When I clicked attack it opened up the Boss Fight Module for Raven and the timer had 8 hours counting down. So you have to beat him within the 8 hours after he appears. This gives you a little time to acquire the items needed if you have not already acquired them and will allow you to start amassing Armagrenade.

I didn't count or calculate how many ices it took to make him appear but I can say that I had already done the 150 ices for family progression. According to the Mafia Wars official blog it will take "many" ices because the Raven is stealthy. (With that hairdo and schnoze? Really?) Anyway, it will take quite a few. I did manage to beat him down using only these Combos:

Here are the items you will need to acquire to help you in beating this Lip-syncing wannabe down stealing his Jacket:

  1. Rain Of Pain, this item drops from Robbing.
  2. Face Chopper, this item drops from Fighting.
  3. Nunchuk Flurry, this item drops from Jobs
  4. Armagrenade, this one is tricky, this one drops only ON ICES and ONLY within the 8 hours after the Raven appears for you.
Now as I said I was able to beat him down using only the yellow combo above, after I exhausted those I used the 50 Rains of Pain I had from robbing and delivered the "Coup de gra".  I did start off with two red combos which are here:

So this shows that he is beatable this time within the allotted time frame if you have a supply of the items you need to do so. At which time you will reach the Achievement for beating him one time, and there are 2 achievements related to this Stealthy Lip-syncing Fruitcake in Shades:

You can try to beat him down 10 times. I am not sure if you are rewarded with 10 hoodies so please add your input!

Good luck to all of you and I hope you find this useful, please feel free to comment and add anything you may have found in regards to this as I do not know if he gets harder after you beat him the first time or if there is a gauge-able way to make him appear.

Zynga forgot about the Raven/Assassin

Where the heck is the Raven at, anyway?

A lot of players, myself included, still have an achievement or two outstanding related to this character, but we haven't seen him in months. Zynga's asleep at the wheel...again.

This and Next Week "8/19"

The official Mafia Wars blog finally got around to releasing this week's update of This And Next Week. Or maybe they have changed the posting from Friday to Monday, who knows.

Anyhoo, the Released This Week portion I usually skip over. There's nothing of note there.

Bug Fixes this week does contain a noteworthy entry that I'm anxious to check out.

BUG: The Rivals list was not accurately displaying which players were iced.
FIXED: The Rivals list now more accurately displays which players are alive.

The rivals list was a great idea of Zynga's, but for the longest time we haven't been able to see which of them would be 'live targets', like we can see live or iced opponents on the fight list. You couldn't tell for sure until you actually tapped them with an attack. I haven't been making much use of my rivals list lately, but now that I've read this tidbit, I'm suddenly anxious to call on some old friends :0)

Coming Next Week*
*As far as currently scheduled, but things can change.

Epic Family Boss Fights
Some epic bosses are on their way and it's going to take the collaborative strength of your family to defeat them!

Boost Mastery Event: Arch Enemies
Draw strength from these boosts. Your will enemies quiver with fear.

So the Family boss fight is on the schedule again. Knowing that it's probably going to be just like the Raven and all the other boring boss fights of late, I can't say I'm excited about this one. Although, I guess it would be interesting to have a new set of boss fight combos to figure out.

The Boost Mastery Event, Arch Enemies, sounds like it's going to be very similar to the Freedom Fighters event we saw at the end of June. A gifting event, where the gifts are usable boosts. Fair enough, I didn't mind that one. Provided they keep spacing out the events.

Zynga's also still looking for player feed back on a couple of items. Read HERE for information on the Gold Mystery Bag survey.

It seems they're still pushing their player survey about the new property collection system "Union Hall" to be found on your Mafia Wars homepage. Why does that irk me? Because the bastages haven't bothered finishing the freaking rollout. I STILL don't have it.

The Inconvenient Raven on Get Satisfaction

The Raven is nothing but a headache! As I first wrote a few days ago, the stupid Raven keeps showing for a boss fight when I'm getting ready to go to bed :-/ It seemed to me that we should be able to start the Raven when we're good and darn ready!

I'm very happy to find out that I'm not the only person with the same thoughts.

Leo wrote me earlier today about a Get Satisfaction thread about exactly that, and it already had over 80 "likes" by the time I checked it again! Zynga has been looking increasingly for feedback from Get Satisfaction, so the more "likes" and "Me Toos" a thread has, the more likely it is to get Zynga's attention.

80 likes is a good start, but it will take a lot more people taking the time to show that they agree before Zynga will take notice. Please go to the Get Satisfaction thread and click "like" and "Me Too" - I already did :0)

RIP Requiescat in Pace Centesimus

Trusty feature contributor Le Trainspotter went to check on some achievements, and noticed that the Requiescat in Pace Centesimus achievement is no longer listed. This will put to ease the OCD minds of some players (including me) who were wondering if they would actually remove the achievement from the list!

Jennifer AKA The Mafia Wars Loot Lady started a Getsatisfaction thread about specifically the Centesimus achievement, pointing out that it would take nearly a year to finish the achievement even if you managed to beat the Raven when you saw him every 3 days. Yuck! Good riddance to that achievement!

That thread has now been changed to read "Implemented" :)

Raven Changes to start tomorrow

After tons of complaining and finally a Getsatisfaction thread in which hundreds of players distinctly expressed DISsatisfaction with the Raven, Zynga has finally gone to action. The requiescat in pace centesimus achievement, earned by defeating the Raven 100 times, is going to be removed. This will likely take place tomorrow. Those who for some reason decided to spend RPs to earn that achievement will still get to keep it.

Currently, the Raven will only appear once every 3 days, right? Assume you actually beat him every single time, we're talking about a year to get that achievement. Many players aren't thrilled with the Raven as it is, who wants to be stuck with him for a year? Not me. And now the Completionists won't have to worry about it.

Additionally, the drop rate for Sniper Shots will be tripled from its current rate. Which was zero during my last attempt. I hope I have better luck next time.

my 2nd Raven sighting

A lot of players I know have met the Raven a handful of times since he resurfaced again recently, but I have started to give up on him. I have been doing a lot of fighting over the past several days, chasing down completion of Ice Season 02. Watching for the Raven started to seem an exercise in futility.

I was actually surprised to log in a little while ago and find the Raven, but the timing really sucks. It's almost bedtime, and I'm not waking up early just to fight the Raven! And then he's gone again for what, three days?

That blows. I'm low on RP and time, so the Raven is just going to have to wait until it's more convenient for me.

found: the Raven

Holy crap, I actually found the Raven! Coincidentally, this was the first time I went to my fight list after being out of the game for a few hours. I didn't ice anyone or even attack anyone. Now the burning question is, do I even wanna? By all accounts, drop rates of the required ammo are worse than the frequency of actually finding the boss fight :-/

And if I don't beat him in 8 hours, he disappears for at least 3 more days. What a crock.

RAVEN BOSS FIGHT

I started the Raven fight from the fight list; (sorry I was click happy & missed the Screen shot of that) Oh well.

Here's the link the FAQ: http://support.zynga.com/cp_articleview?gameId=43&Id=kA160000000GozjCAC&lang=en_US&loc=en_US

This screen appears after you click to start the Raven.
Supplies needed are Crack of the bat (found by Robbing)
Knife Slash (found doing Jobs)
Bloody Knuckles ( found by fighting)
Sniper Shot (found by fighting)

The Raven comes with an 8 hour timer and has 55,000 Health & the Assassin reward is worth 170A & 100 D (very nice!!!)
And if you're out of ammunition and don't wanna look for it, you can buy ammo at the price of 10 RP for 10 each.

This is what I had going in, although I did spend the RP to help me finish it.

The COMBOS are:
GREEN: Knife Slash - Bloody Knuckles - Sniper Shot - Crack of the Bat (+1500 - +1600 Attack)
YELLOW: Bloody Knuckles - Knife Slash - Crack of the Bat - Sniper Shot (+1500 - +1700 Attack)
*RED: Knife Slash - Sniper Shot - Sniper Shot - Crack of the Bat. (+3200 - +3500 Attack)

*According to the FAQ, the red combo comes in 6 different flavors. What this means is what works for you might not work for everyone else.

And once defeated you get this "cool" message:
"Is that all you got. I Honestly I expected more from you. Perhaps next time I'll actually break a sweat."

Enjoy the fight. :D

COMBOS for the RAVEN

The yellow and green C-C-Combos are the same for all players. However, there are 6 different red combos to fight the Assassin.

This means that the red combo that works for you may not be the same for your friends.

HAPPY HUNTING!!

Return of the Raven

Another update from the Mafia Wars blog follows up on the statement during Mafia Wars Live that the Raven is returning tonight.

For dealing with the Raven, a new ammo item will replace the Shotgun Blast, it'll be the Sniper Shot. From what I understand in the Mafia Wars Live broadcast, the Shotgun Blast will still be an ammo item for other boss fights. Which, I guess means we're getting more of these boss fights.

I really just miss the old boss fight events. These are boring.

Anyway, the Sniper Shot will drop from jobs, fights, robbing, and icing. I'm a little confused by the double-reference to icing/fighting.

the Raven is hiding from a new boss

A short update about the Raven was posted on the Zynga customer support site late yesterday. Apparently, the Raven isn't exactly just on vacation, he's running scared from the new boss in town. Yep, that's right, there's going to be another boss fight. *sigh*. The update slipped that information in there, and indicated that the Raven would be back in early July.

I wonder if this has anything to do with our feedback on the Raven survey :0)

new boss fight, achievements

Beating the boss the first time will earn you the Requiescat in Pace Primus achievement. And the Assassin Reward loot item, with stats of (170,100). I don't see this item in my inventory yet, but for some reason that doesn't surprise me.

I'm only seeing an 8 hour timer on this boss, but these new achievements suggest this to be an ongoing thing.

After beating the boss, the boss fight disappears. I see it says on the home page ad for this boss fight "Watch out for him in fights". Hmm.......
