INFECTED: another wave, and Zombified iced posts

If you are curious about the new zombified iced postings in your news feed, don't get too excited.

You only get the same lame liquid courage boost. I'm already way over the new pretty pictures and back to being sick of my news feed being flooded with useless posts.

First the end was near, but now there's another "zombie wave" and I'm human, so I guess these are going to be ongoing the entire time?

INFECTED Mafia Wars Zombie Apocalypse begins

The Zombie Apocalypse is upon us! Fight to save humanity!

Start as a Human Survivor, but if iced by a Zombie you might become one! Your side is designated by an icon next to your name and a themed screen border.

Earn points by icing other players, and extra points for icing players of the opposite allegiance. A reward is granted at the end of each wave (~30 minutes) based on your allegiance and points.

Event runs Wednesday, October 26th at 1 PM PST and runs for about 10 days.

I got infected pretty fast!

 You can, of course, use reward points to buy antidotes.

 The points legend will be at the upper left of your fight list.

You'll know who's who by the unmistakable badges identifying which side they're on--human or zombie.

 Even fight result screens have been altered for this event.

Fight The Undead, New Loot items added

If you didn't have the patience to read through to the end of the previous post about the Fight The Undead event (I don't blame you), you might've missed that there are two loot items for the Fight The Undead event, one for the Survivors and one for the Zombies, and they will be upgradable. Looks like 4 tiers to each item; which item you win will depend on which "side" you end up on during these Zombie Waves.

Braincase 76 117 Quality: Superior Type: Armor Sub-Types: Head Location: Special Event

Apocalypse Bike 125 85 Quality: Superior Type: Vehicle Sub-Types: Motorcycle Location: Special Event

Those are the best of the two items from the Fight The Undead fight event. The other items listed above will likely just be featured items in the Marketplace, available for some ridiculous price in reward points.

FIGHT THE UNDEAD: MAFIA WARS ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE FIGHT EVENT

FROM THE MAFIA WARS BLOG...I lost my patience reading all this. The gist of it seems to be, just keep on icing.  I read that it says the color of your "pop-up window border" will 'remind' you of your role (as either a Zombie or a Survivor). I wonder if that applies to the fight results pop-up, which is one way we can quickly determine our fight results. It also says your roles will reverse at the start of each "wave"...I dunno, like I said, just keep icing.This starts tomorrow afternoon.

It's time to put your fighting skills to the test in a battle for humanity. For approximately 1.5 weeks beginning tomorrow afternoon, October 26th, fight as either a Survivor fending off Zombies or as a Zombie trying to turn Survivors into more of your kind in the Mafia Wars Zombie Apocalypse Fight Event!
Collect Ices Just Like Ice Seasons, But Otherwise Different

• • Instead of a 1-2 week "season," multiple zombie "waves" will occur until the event ends approximately 1.5 weeks after it begins. Each wave ends when the Zombie plague has overtaken the vast majority (~90%) of the population, which should occur multiple times by November 4th. The exact number of zombie waves that will occur isn't certain, however, as each could take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the number of people icing at any given time.
• • At the beginning of each wave, you are assigned the role of Survivor or Zombie and your role is visible to all as an icon next to your name in fight lists. The color of your pop-up windows' borders will remind you of your current role, which will switch at the beginning of each new wave. If you are a Survivor, there is also a chance that you will be turned into a Zombie any time you are iced. In the event that you are turned into a Zombie mid-wave, the ices/points accumulated while you were a Survivor continue to count toward mastering that wave. The item you can receive at the end of each wave is based on your role at the time the wave ends.

Each Role's Goal + How to Maximize Your Score
The goal as a Zombie is to convert Survivors to Zombies by icing them. The goal as a Survivor is to stave off the Zombie Apocalypse by icing Zombies while keeping yourself alive. To help you accomplish this, Zombie Protection and Antidotes will be available for purchase on the fight page and on select pop-ups. While your score will increase for each person you ice during this event, you will receive bonus points for icing players on the opposing side.
Zombie Apocalypse Fight Event Loot
There are many opportunities, depending on your score, to collect loot drop and mastery items for both sides. Collect enough ices to master all 4 of the tiers as a Survivor to earn the Ruby level Apocalypse Bike (125/85), and collect enough ices to master all 4 of the tiers as a Zombie to earn the Ruby level Brain Cage (76/117). The item you can receive at the end of each wave is based on your role at the time the wave ends.

FIGHT THE UNDEAD coming this week

For a few months now, the Mafia Wars blog has had this "This and Next Week" segment. It features what's happened during the past week--which all of us already know and probably don't care about, so I'm not sure why it's featured.

The part referring to the coming week has NEVER featured every item coming in the next week, indicating this is only a token appearance of interacting with the players.

This week, they tell us that the "Fight the Undead" feature is coming this week; many of us have been wondering about this. The Fight the Undead banner has been on our Mafia Wars home page for several days now. We still know nothing about it, but now we know it's coming this week.
