Where To Find Cuban Mercenaries

background image courtesy of Gerry Pacher
With less than 4 days left before the reclosing of Cuba, some players are still scrambling for Cuban Mercenaries. If are you don't have Facebook friends eager to give these things away, you can farm for them fairly easily if you know where to look.

And you don't have to spam your friends, either.

Cuban Mercenaries can first be found in the El Soldado tier in Cuba, from the job Establish Contact With The FRG. Actually, the FRG is a common theme when looking for Cuban Mercenaries in Mafia Wars. With Top Mafia bonuses, this one comes out to about 1.70 XP/NRG ratio.

In the next tier, El Capitan in Cuba, you'll find another FRG job that puts out Cuban Mercenaries, Meet With The FRG Leadership. This one has a better ratio that the last one, at about 1.82.

In the El Jefe tier, you can also find Cuban Mercenaries dropping from the job Help The FRG Steal A Truckload Of Weapons. This one has better ratio of 1.88 - almost 1.89, and that's actually the best ratio you're gonna get for Cuban Mercenaries in Cuba job tiers.

There are a few other FRG jobs, but they don't drop Cuban Mercenaries.

Return To Cuba NOW

BREAKING NEWS! GUNS SEIZED IN CUBA!

You can't miss the headlines when you log in to Mafia Wars, but should that actually happen, you can also travel to Cuba from the Travel menu.

But just in case you didn't know about that, there's another pop-up to make sure you're aware.

Now’s your chance! The Neo-Imperium has let down their guard, and Cuba is ready for your return! Sneak back in while you can and see if you can rally enough support to take back what’s rightfully yours!
I find the wording interesting - ". . . really enough support to take back what's rightfully yours!" I'm sure this is just another experiment to see if we were really interested in reopening closed cities, because us telling them so would never be enough.

That's not exactly the two weeks they said we would have, but whatev...

Didn't finish Cuba before? Not to worry, you'll also have access to unfinished business in Cuba, and will receive 3x old city mastery. I guess that Bangkok Experiment led them to believe that 5x mastery was just too much.

From that pop-up, you can also request Cuban Mercenaries.

But what are the prizes??
You'll win the Sleet for mastering the event.

Complete the Return To Cuba mission to win the Sleet, which has stats of  84,155.

Additionally, the Old Cannon will drop in Cuba. It has stats of 110,75.

The obligatory banner is already roosting on your Mafia Wars home page.

Here is a look at the first part of the mission event. This mission is called "The Cat Is Away". I'm not real sure why Cuban pesos are a part of the reward, since we won't need those for long. Oh well, maybe someone can use it. Not me.

As for Cuba itself? It's much the same as you left it - only it has an extra mastery level. Get to work!

Return To Cuba: 2 weeks only

The Neo Imperium is distracted with activities in other corners of the world right now, so you can sneak back into Cuba - for a limited time. They are reopening Cuba for 2 weeks. Temporarily, to see how we like it, which means to make sure we don't like it too much. Everything will appear the same, but there will be a new ruby level of mastery and some new loot drops. The loot that was previously added to our inventory is classified as special event loot, so don't get your hopes up too much.

With the Neo-Imperium distracted by their criminal activities in other parts of the world, your chance has come to sneak back into Cuba. Your job progress will start for where you left off, but you’ll find a new tier of job mastery and powerful new loot. Be sure to hurry though, the Neo-Imperium won’t be fooled for long. Grab what you can while you can, because this temporary visa won’t last forever.
Cuba Event Developer Explanation:
Due to player request, we will be re-opening Cuba temporarily for 2 weeks. Many players are disappointed that they no longer have access to Cuba job progress and properties, so we wanted to attempt a temporary re-opening through a limited time event to see how players enjoy it.

During this time users will have access to Cuba with new added loot drops. Their job progress will be the same as when they left it. Additionally, for those players who already finished Cuba, we are releasing a Ruby tier of Job Mastery.  We are very aware of the dedication players have put into finishing Cuba, so we wanted to make sure everyone has something to tackle in the re-opening, along with high end loot drops and new mastery items for completing Ruby Tiers.

We would really like to hear your feedback on this event, the Cuba shutdown event, and future city releases and events. We strive to make sure the new city content we release is the best for our players that it can be!  Thanks everyone – and good luck dealing with the Neo-Imperium!

Cuban Mercenary consumable

Just for fun and even more so curious as to the pending re-opening of Cuba, I was looking around the Inventory when I found the following item listed as a consumable for the "new" Cuba.

This is the Cuban Mercenary. It is listed as 0/0 stats so clearly a consumable item. It is giftable and therefore wishlist-able. So I added to my Wishlist.

Took opening around 10 mixed combo of Reds and Blues and then on the 11th mystery bag, which was a Blue, it finally dropped. So armed with my 1 Cuban Mercenary in Inventory, now I am clearly way ahead of the crowd when it comes to the pending re-opening of Cuba.... :-D

Return To Cuba

  • Return To Cuba
    Return To Cuba
    In Progress (0/6)
Earned by mastering Cuban Job tiers up to Ruby.

Yep, that's a new achievement, listed with our other retired Cuban achievements. Do you think this means Cuba is coming back? Some are worried that Cuba will the "new city", after we've started thinking about Chicago.

Judging by the new inventory, all that we're looking at with the Cuban business is a special event. A mini city challenge? I hope not; I don't like those.

But then again, this new Cuban inventory item, the Cuban Mercenary (consumable) references a "reopening event". I guess we shall soon see.
