No Golden Promotion

I'm actually getting a little tired of these golden and milestone promotions now. I would like to see Zynga make some changes, by allowing us to post the milestone promotions to the news feed, and by increasing the frequency of decent level-up rewards actually worth publishing.
 

Milestones are usually more worth publishing for bragging rights, but we can't do that. You're only allowed to post milestones on the walls of Facebook friends - and even then, you can't actually post it on any friend's wall that you'd really want to share the promotion with, because it only shows the names of inactive or brand-new players.

Or, as in Sudesh's case, you might not even have THAT option. On his milestone promotions, he doesn't get a list of friends to ever show, so he can't share it with anyone.

The +1 attack and defense are nice options. And since players are limited to collected 3 bonuses a day from level-up posts, it's not like anyone can exploit them. But it's pretty infrequently that we get those to even share with our friends.

More often we get junk like chain vipers or mystery shipments. I don't even post those, because I don't want to post rewards for my friends that aren't worth anything to anyone.

Milestone promotions make false promises

ETA...Feature Contributor Mike Shay pointed out to me that you can only collect 5 mystery shipments a day, so this could very well be the cause of this. I'll have to pay closer attention next time, as I'm not entirely sure the account that accepted the bonus had even accepted any mystery shipments.  

It seems that you won't always get what you're told you will get when accepting these new promotion bonuses. I clicked this one for 5 Mystery Shipments and got... a burner? I'm pretty sure burners aren't contained in mystery shipments, and at any rate, I only got one.

This came up recently on our fanpage recently, too. Jimmy Valle reported getting a burner from a promotion post that he was supposed to get something else from. I wasn't able to duplicate the issue that day, so I assumed it was a random thing for Jimmy. Now I'm wondering though, if this only occurs on milestone promotions? The milestones being, every 5th level. You are prompted to select only certain friends to post a promotion reward on their wall, rather than posting to the news feed in that case.

<which, I think svks balls because the only people in the list are people who don't play and aren't going to play. and besides, I wanted to brag when I hit level 700, but I couldn't because of this 'feature'>

I have collected other milestone promotion bonuses previously, but this is the first time I haven't gotten what I was supposed to get.

Could we get a little less Animal Feeds in Golden Promotions?

As more people are starting to get the Golden Promotions, I'm starting to see more complaints about the rewards of animal feeds. The above image was posted on the Mistyfied Mafia Wars fan page by user Jonathan Bickers. I have to agree, for such a milestone as level 1000, 5 animal feeds is kind of crap. Congrats on level 1k, Jon, sorry about the animal feeds :P 


Animal feeds should probably be removed or severely reduced in the frequency of their appearance from Golden Promotions.

By now, you've probably seen these "Golden Promotion" posts in your news feed. Zynga is in the process of rolling this out to players, but some of us have had the feature for some time now. 

This is one of the better features Zynga has released lately, and I hope they hurry up and provide it to all players. In addition to a couple of good loot items, Golden Promotions can give attack or defense points, which the person leveling-up will receive as well as the first few people to collect on a posted level-up.

  

Some of the rewards from these posts are actually pretty good, but the problem is, unless the publisher comments what item they received as shown above, you have no idea what you're getting. Not everything you can win is rewarding, and you can only collect on three of these level up posts per day.

  

 This Croc O'Nine Tails is one example of good loot that can be obtained from the level up posts, and I was really grateful to Jessy for commenting what the item was when he posted his level up.

  

 Unfortunately, not every player adds a comment to indicate the reward, and you can get stuck with some not-so-awesome loot. Zynga calls this Arrivederci "Uncommon", but we know otherwise.

 

Even worse than the Arrevederci, Chain Vipers seem to be common rewards from Golden Promotions. I don't know about you, but I haven't needed a Chain Viper in a looooong time.

Personally, I gots no beef with the limit of collecting 3 a day. Since the rewards can be good, I understand the need to prevent exploitation. I'll take my three rewards and not complain (for once).


I will suggest players post these "responsibly". Commenting what reward was received when posting them is greatly appreciated by your Facebook friends. Sometimes it might be better to not even post the level-up if the reward isn't good. 

As with most things Zynga-related, though, there is room for improvement. The milestone promotions can only be posted to a few select people - generally, inactive players or nonplayers. Zynga obviously wants us to get more people involved in the game, but I'm not sure this is the right way to do it. As shown above, level 700 was a promotion that I actually wanted to post to the news feed - that's worth bragging about! But you don't get an option to post to the news feed, you can only post the reward to people who don't really play. When I got the above promotion, the only player that it would let me publish to happens to be an account that I used to use for a game prior to Mafia Wars, what was the use in that?


Zynga could improve this by allowing us to send the milestone rewards to actual players that would appreciate it and benefit from it, and letting us post our milestones to the news feed.


Zynga could also improve this by rolling it out to other players FASTER, as I know a lot of people who are still waiting!

More feature rollouts

If you haven't yet completed Vegas, be sure you take advantage of the 3x mastery event this weekend and coming week. The 3x mastery event will end before next weekend.

Yesterday, we saw that many more players were finally receiving the Crack The Safe feature. Today, when the fight loot event was kicked off, it looks like another large batch of players were given the the feature that they've had to wait weeks for.

 Additionally, I'm seeing that a few more players have gotten the golden promotions.

If you are one of the players still waiting, the good news is Zynga seems to be speeding up the "slow rollout" so hopefully you won't have to wait much longer.
