MAFIA WARS The Slammer secret district returns to Mafia Wars

As promised by Zynga a few days ago, The Slammer secret district has just returned to a Mafia Wars home page near you. The Slammer secret district was first released last Thursday, and you can read Ann's post covering the details linked here http://mistyfiedmafiawars.blogspot.com/2012/01/new-secret-chicago-district-slammer.html.

About an hour later, the secret district disappeared, leaving many players confused and worried about the progress they had already made in The Slammer district. After the fact, Zynga finally told players that they had intentionally pulled The Slammer, and that it would return--with progress made intact--on the 23rd.

You can again send Jailbreakers to your Mafia Wars friends. Jailbreakers are a consumable item needed for some jobs in the secret district.

MAFIA WARS Secret District The Slammer To Return At Later Date

From the Zynga customer support page:
Missing Secret District
Updated 01/20/2012 at 05:06
For a brief time earlier this evening we released the next Secret District, but due to player feedback regarding our recent event schedule, this district will not be made active until Monday, January 23rd, 2012.

We apologize for any confusion that this may have caused, but we felt the timing of the event would be better suited for our players at a later date.

Many players have expressed concern over the progress that they have already made on this Secret District, but don't worry all progress made by players has been saved and will be there when it releases again on Monday.

Because this was an intentional removal of the feature and all progress will be saved and restored at the next release there is not a reason to submit an incident or contact Customer Support as they will not be able to make any changes or credits to your account.

Thank you again for your feedback!

MAFIA WARS missing secret district The Slammer

Well, the bad news is that the latest secret district for Mafia Wars, The Slammer, has gone missing. I hate it when Zynga pulls this stuff. As someone mentioned on our Facebook fan page, most likely a number of "bugs" were identified and the secret district was closed for repair. That's just a guess, but probably a good one. The good news is you can still receive the consumable needed for The Slammer secret district, the Jailbreaker. Keep your eyes peeled...it'll be back soon or we'll hear other news.

EDIT, well now they just pulled Jailbreakers from the free gift page just in the past half hour. Trying to send them will result in sending blue mystery bags. I'm so far still able to accept the Jailbreakers that were sent to me before this occurred, but a few people are reporting that they are now getting blue mystery bags when trying to accept the Jailbreakers.

Boooo Zynga.

New Secret Chicago District ~ The Slammer

Thanks to {ℳ} ßrµ†µ§ and his alert, I popped over to the game and look at that!  A new secret district for Chicago.  Welcome to the Slammer!  For the first stage, I'm seeing a 2.09 ratio as the highest available - which is better than some, but nothing exciting in my book.

To proceed, as typical, you will need half a gazillion of the consumable they have named the Jailbreaker.

Click to Send Jailbreakers!

Similar to recent secret districts there is a drop down bonus menu showing you that you will need to slave away to collect a ton of loot in order to pick up 5 attack points, followed by 5 defense points, ending with 5 skill points.

As you can see, the nifty things we get to collect this time, while providing decent stats, are nothing I'm going to expend a ton of unnecessary energy on.  I'm sure I'll pull through far enough to get the 1st bonus of the 5 attack points after that, I doubt I'll bother.

And...on that note, I'll leave you with the reminder of lessons learned in the past: do not complete ruby until you have collected all of the Jailer's Pistols, Police Caps and Night Owls you want to earn your 1, 2 and/or 3 level bonus skill points.  Once you complete ruby...you will be stuck with what you have and customer service won't be sympathetic enough to make up for the time you may invest in trying to explain to them that their "rule" on this stuff is LAME.

23 new loot items added to Mafia Wars Inventory

Lots more new loot has been added to our Mafia Wars inventory, courtesy of Zynga. When it rains, it pours.

Some of these items appear to indicate future events:

Jailer's Pistol (A:60 D:101) from Chicago
Police Cap (A:103 D:62) from Chicago
Night Owl (A:61 D:105) from Chicago
Paddy Wagon (A:109 D:63) from Chicago
Bribed Policeman (A:190 D:81) from Chicago
Jailbreaker from Chicago

For instance, the Jailbreaker item has no stats, so it is probably a consumable. And the Bribed Policeman is clearly a mastery item. Secret districts...er, "Additional Districts" would be my guess, as those usually require a new consumable item.

EDIT, the Mafia Wars Collectors blog has these labeled as Chicago District items. Additional district?

Block Buster (A:97 D:60) from Brazil
Runner Vest (A:59 D:99) from Brazil
Alley Cat (A:101 D:62) from Brazil
Corner Car (A:61 D:105) from Brazil
Street Warrior (A:85 D:185) from Brazil
Rifle Case from Brazil

Several items are also listed as being from Brazil, and these also look to be for a Brazil event in Mafia Wars. The Rifle Case appears to be a consumable, and the Street Warrior is a mastery item.

Edit, the Mafia Wars Collector's blog has these labeled as Brazil district items. Secret District? Additional District?

Party Animal (A:90 D:155) from Special Event

Hard to say what this gal is for, but she's listed as a Special Event item. People party up at New Year's, so maybe it's something for around then. Limited time mission?

The rest of the items are just listed as Marketplace items. Meh.

Stack Pistol (A:122 D:67) from Marketplace
Stud Punchers (A:121 D:68) from Marketplace
Arika (A:124 D:65) from Marketplace
Serval (A:125 D:62) from Marketplace
Rocks (A:123 D:66) from Marketplace
Chest Burster (A:73 D:118) from Marketplace
Layered Armor Torso (A:72 D:119) from Marketplace
Black Fire (A:76 D:117) from Marketplace
Eastern Coral Snake (A:78 D:115) from Marketplace
Max (A:77 D:116) from Marketplace

EDIT, the Mafia Wars Collector's blog indicates these may be for an upcoming generation of Lucky Stash bonus loot.
