Anybody who has been playing this game since 2009 can tell you, we have lost some good friends over the years. People who we were just playing a game with have become close friends and confidants over the years. Here at Mistyfied, we lost Jose back in September of 2011. Some of our friends have also lost people who have been near and dear to them recently, and someone else was smart enough and caring enough to create a group just for this.

Mafia Wars: Mistyfied Pimping Revival

A long, long-ish time ago, during the 4-15-10 Mafia Wars boycott, the Mistyfied fan page began based on a series of informational Facebook notes--among them, the Mistyfied Pimping note. Back then, learning the game and making sure you had your 501 mafia was key. It's no longer key.

These days, the problem isn't getting your 501, and it's not about learning the game; there are no new players. Zynga has assured us of that with their continual efforts to stab our game in the foot.

These days, there are still a good number of us dedicated to the game, and the issue is clearing out your inactive Mafia Wars players and making sure you have a solid, active friends list. We're here again to help!

One of our awesome admins, Ann, has revived the Mistyfied Pimping note with that in mind. Please find and bookmark our note right HERE. Be sure to check our fan page for circulation, and help the pimpees by sharing the Pimping note to your news feed.

update: UnlockedMW toolbar v1.1.7

The UnlockedMW blog announced yesterday that a new version of the toolbar is available for download. Alex says this version is working very well, and indeed it's been working fine for me since I installed it this morning.

Many players recently experienced issues with the toolbar, or found that, as in my case, it disappeared altogether from your game without uninstalling it :-/ Myself and other Mistyfied admins and contributors continue to get questions about this, so I talked to Alex briefly this morning. He explained that the issue was actually overusage of the toolbar, because the hosting server could not handle all the traffic. 

It's good news that so many players are using the toolbar so often, but it's costly news for the toolbar's creator. They have switched to a better service, which can for now handle and adjust to the toolbar's growing use. Monthly costs have gone up with this change, and are expected to go higher.

If you use the toolbar frequently, consider donating a few dollars to keep it going. In cases like these, a few dollars from a few people go a long way. You can donate to UnlockedMW by going directly to their site at www.unlockedmw.com

You can install or reinstall the toolbar from the UnlockedMW downloads page, for either Chrome or Firefox. Be sure to also visit the UnlockedMW fan page for support and updates.

Family list for sending Free Gifts

When sending Free Gifts, you'll now begin to notice there is an additional list of recipients that you can send to: your redtag Family. I noticed a few moments ago that I had a new tab for "Mistyfied", which is our page group name, and the list contains redtagged members of our group. Nifty!

Hey guys, we're getting a lot of requests from people wanting to join the Mistyfied redtag Family for the current icing event. We appreciate it! Our group is already at the 100 member limit, unfortunately, so we will not be able to accept anyone else until Zynga gets off their butt and does something about it. And we won't be swapping out members for the event, either, as we have no plans of reorganizing into a "clan". At most, we are a social group, and many of us are friends via our fan page. Come hang out with us there :0)

Mistyfied Worldwide: New Zealand

Blog traffic demographics are endlessly fascinating to me.

A lot of times lately when I have loaded the blog page, I've seen "Auckland" in the live traffic feed widget. Enough so that I wondered "where the hell is Auckland?"

Families: Mistyfied

With the roll-out of the new Families module, I've been asked many times if there will be a Mistyfied family, and the answer is yes! I was a part of the initial release of the module and have already claimed my tag - I really just wanted the tag :)

Mistyfied is not a clan. But we are a family, in a sense. By no means do we represent each others' game play styles, ethics, or opinions, but we do share some important common views of the game. Most of us have been friends for a long time.

Some have also expressed interest in joining the Mistyfied Family tag. If you are a part of our network, I don't necessarily mind that, but you should aware that the game only supports one Family tag currently. If you are a member of an actual clan or family, you will probably want to wait to tag with them when your group leader is added to the Families module.

Contact an admin or Feature Contributor if you would like to get an invite ~ if you're in our network, then chances are  you know at least a few of us :0)

Pimpin' For Dummies returns in mini

Remember the old Mistyfied Pimping note? It's back - in mini form! Pimping requirements can now be accessed by clicking on the "Pimpin' for Dummies" graphic on the right side of the blog, and recent pimpees will be displayed underneath. I'll soon be reviving the old Past Pimpee note as a simple page on the Mistyfied.net domain. But one thing at a time.
