Removal of 'Ruby Level Butlers'

Some info from the Mafia Wars Customer Support page regarding those Butlers from the Save Don's Dinner event. I did not participate in that event, but this may be of interest to you~

We recently discovered that during the 'Save Don's Dinner' event that our system accidentally credited more 'Ruby Level Butlers' to some player's accounts than it should have.  To protect fair game play among all players, we will be removing the extra 'Ruby Level Butlers' from those players accounts.  We apologize for this error and to those few players that were affected.

Each player that was affected will be sent a notification to the email address that is registered with their Mafia Wars account. The email that was sent to the effected player's contains the same information as is listed in the previous paragraph.  In addition to the email, the effected players will also receive a pop-up notification within the game.  If you did not receive these notifications then your account was not affected.

Because we have confirmed the accounts which received the extra items and have manually reviewed each account individually, there is not a need to submit a ticket for this as Customer Service agents will not be able to make any adjustments or credits to your account over this matter.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience or confusion that this has caused to the affected player's.

Save Don's Dinner is "over"...and I wish it was gone

"But you still have 7 days to purchase and redeem Thanksgiving Turkeys to collect the Butler. Hurry before time runs out."

I don't think we need 7 damn days to redeem Turkeys, do you? Frankly, I don't think we need 7 days to PURCHASE turkeys; I sure as hell am not. Get this crap off my Mafia Wars home page. Who is in charge of this stuff now? Geez. 

Save Don's Dinner going cold...

I have to admit, I haven't been excited or motivated by this Save Don's Dinner thing. I always have zero turkeys, and it seems like a pain in the @ss to be scrambling for "turkey protection" when there's always a limit on how many turkeys you can get. I've seem some similar comments in my news feed and in my Family group. I am pretty much ignoring the event and just playing as I normally would. I hope they can come up with something different for the Christmas event this year.

Save Don's Dinner!

From the official Mafia Wars blog. All I hear is limits on this, limits on that:

The Don is nostalgic for those big family gatherings and his mama’s roast turkey, so he’s invited you to Thanksgiving, but he needs more birds. Collect enough (25) turkeys - steal them from opponents' ice-cold hands if you have to - and he’ll reward you with a powerful item: his right-hand man, the Butler (155/95 at Ruby level). You start with 5 turkeys. After that, additional turkeys can be acquired by:

Requesting from your Mafia: You can receive up to 20 turkeys per day from requests to your friends; each request makes 5 turkeys available to be claimed by friends. Earning from Jobs: You can earn up to 20 turkeys per day as loot dropped from doing jobs. Stealing in Fights: If you can steal turkeys in fights, you can also lose turkeys in fights. (Keep reading to learn about the offensive tools and defensive measures you can take.) The fowl goes to the winner. You can steal up to 20 turkeys a day from others by winning battles and the sky’s the limit on turkeys won through icing. Purchasing from the Marketplace: 10 turkeys for 10RP!

Turkey Protection: Protecting Your Birds
Turkey Protection guards your turkeys against theft for a limited time (5 minutes). You can gain them from your Mafia (max of 20 Turkey Protections received via requests per day) or purchased in quantities of 5 for 5RP or 10 for 8RP. Automatically depleted when you are attacked or iced.

Turkey Vision: Finding Birds Of An Unprotected Feather
While players with turkeys are visible without it, Turkey Vision can be used to see which players have turkeys that can be stolen – those that are unprotected or have low protection. 15 minutes of Turkey Vision can be purchased in the marketplace for 10RP.

The Save Don’s Dinner event has already begun and ends at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) on Wednesday, November 30th. You will be able to continue to purchase and redeem turkeys through December 7th. Good luck in your attempt to Save Don’s Dinner!

Don's Dinner gone missing? Zynga's word on the issue.

Save Don's Dinner has been pulled, due to some mysterious issue found during its release. According to Andrea A. of the Office of Zyngon Customer Crap Shoots, it was so it could be modified to avoid any 'inconvenience' to the players, and would return "soon", although she couldn't give me an estimate or even an educated guess.

Now there's a little banner at the top of your Mafia Wars game advising you they're aware of some issue, directing you to the Troll's Nest, I mean forum.

Issue: Some players are reporting that the "Save Don's Dinner" event is not available in their game.
Status: Fix in development. Our slow roll-out of the event allowed us to catch a number of bugs serious enough that they must be fixed before we can release the event to everyone. We’ve temporarily removed the event from all accounts while we work to correct the discovered issues. Please check back here for the latest status updates surrounding the release of the "Save Don's Dinner" event.

Save Don's Dinner

The Save Don's Dinner event has arrived, and looks like it will be with us for the next 8 and a half days.

EDIT, doesn't look like this has reached everyone's account yet. 
EDIT (by ~Anisty): slowly rolling out on accounts now.  Expect the fight page to now have this nifty bar where ~Z~ gives you yet another chance to spend your RP.

You can ask for Turkeys directly from the Mafia Wars home page banner, and you can also "earn" them by doing jobs and fighting. Apparently they are "stolen" from the other player when you get them from fighting and icing.

Sending "Turkey Protection" to your friends will help 'protect' their Turkeys from those fights. There isn't much explanation as to how that works; I would guess these act sort of like defense boosts, and you'll use one per time you are attacked, but I'm not sure.

There's also something here called "Turkey Vision", which will let you see who has Turkeys for you to steal.

Thanksgiving Turkey

Collect turkeys by doing Jobs*, or ask Friends*.

You can also steal them in Fights* or by Icing.

Ask for help and earn up to 5 turkeys from your friends.

Turkey Protection

Send Protection to your friends to protect their turkeys from being stolen. Collect* Protection to keep your turkeys safe.

Turkey Vision

When Turkey Vision is active, you'll see who has turkeys which are easier to steal! You have 5 mins of free Turkey Vision.

Some new items have been added to our Mafia Wars inventories. These are very likely for the upcoming Save Don's Dinner event mentioned in This And Next Week. The Turkey Protection and Thanksgiving Turkey look to be the items we'll have to collect, and the Butler will be the mastery item. I'd guess we can look for this event later today, or tomorrow at the latest.
