The official Mafia Wars blog made a follow-up post to the announcement in the game that contract missions will soon be going away. Of note, they explain exactly which missions are contract missions, which some of us were curious about:
This is just a quick note to announce that Contract Missions will soon be removed from Mafia Wars. Contract Missions are designated by the red crosshaired scope icon and now feature a timer, in their top right corner, that counts down to their completion deadline:If there are any Contract Missions you have yet to finish, you'll want to wrap those up before they disappear at 6:00am (Pacific Time) on Thursday, December 29th.
So the daily Family missions, the series of city-specific missions, and mission events aren't going away.
Ah, now it makes more sense. I was wondering why Zynga would announce missions going away by Dec 29th (in a week-ish) and a day later start up another mission with a 13 day expiration?! Was thinking left hand not talking to right hand...this updated post clarifies...
