rivals list needs updating

Why does my rivals list always show them as online? And yet every time I deliver some love taps, they're not actually alive. 

Theoretically, my rivals list should work the same as the fight list. Right?? On the fight list, already-iced opponents are grayed out, so I know to avoid attacking them. Why can't we have the same for the rivals list?
