warning: shark tank ideas

FionaWG posted an interesting idea on the forums, what do you think about it? http://forums.zynga.com/showpost.php?p=9512885&postcount=29

The Shark Tank is a term used to refer to how the fight list works after a player passes level 450. After 450, the fight list will be comprised of players up to level 25,000. To players who are used to a fight list comprised of more courteous targets nearer to their own level, the shark tank is quite a shock. They get mad when they consistently get attacked by higher levels and for a higher number of attacks, but after you've been there awhile, you realize that's the nature of the beast. Ices are harder to get, so no one stops to think about how many times they attack a target, they're just going to keep attacking until they or someone else gets the ice. Think of it as an initiation rite; we all go through it.

As pointed in Fiona's post, and as I've said before myself, simply creating expectation of the shark tank in the game would help reduce that culture shock. How hard could it be to just put some information about it somewhere in the game?

  2. They could communicate so much more USEFUL info via the game. One time pop-ups about events and impending changes, war declarations. And of course, having 'Shark-Tank Ahead' would prepare many players for the changes to their fight list levels. I'd love to know the metrics of when the most players stop playing. I reckon a fair chunk would be around the 450 mark..

  3. start it from level 400 so it isnt a putoff for players who are of lower levels and get bored trying to reach there

  4. put the tank at level 750 , plenty of strong players at this level , would give players more chance to get their stats up .

  5. I think that giving the total health of the person you are fighting would be a better wake up call... if you don't have Assassin-a-tor you don't think about the fact that you are beating your head against the door of a 5,000 health player!
