Families: 100 member limit "under consideration"

Since long before the initial release of the Family module, Zynga has known that the limit of 100 members for a redtag Family group was far too low. A few weeks prior to the release, some members of PAC were given a preview of the module and given the chance to air our ideas and concerns with a few members of the development team. The 100 member limit was one of the first things several of us pointed out as a problem.

What did Zynga do? Release it with a 100 member limit.

The first release included a few members of PAC who wanted a redtag and several existing clan leaders. Who better to test out a Family feature than families? To their credit, I liked how Zynga handled that rollout, but I digress. From these initial testers, the feedback was immediate: 100 members is way too low.

We were led to believe that it was a temporary condition, because the module was so new. It was pointed out that it's easier to test bugs in smaller groups. So we waited.

The next we heard was that they were considering 'other ideas'. What's with that? What other ideas can they really have about something as simple as raising the cap on how many members a Family can hold?

It's also been implied that the needed funding to implement such a change was the problem, and that there were no short-term solutions in sight as far as the 100 member Family limit went.

Jason Roberts, Godfather of [M.P.R.], started a Getsatisfaction.com thread about it recently, and has been diligently circulating the link for that thread. It's gotten several "Me Too"s and likes, and many comments in agreement. Zynga has marked the thread now as "Under Consideration".

That's a step in the right direction, but really - how much feedback does it really take to get Zynga's attention finally? How much more feedback will it take to finally get it done? If funding is an issue, then Zynga needs to reallocate some of its projects. We don't care about new events, we want stuff fixed. Allocate your funding for manpower to THOSE projects.

Jason's thread isn't even the first one on Get Satisfaction. I found several, not surprisingly.

Like this one. It was marked as Answered, but it wasn't answered. All that was said was that it was turned in to the nebulous "team" at Zynga, and that there were some "limitations" they were trying to work around.

Or this one. This Family member was waiting to get into her Family but couldn't because of the 100 member limitation. It was marked as Answered, but again, it wasn't answered. She was only told that her group would have to remove someone in order to accommodate her. That's kinda crappy.

Yep. Another one. This quote was given by way of 'answer':
"There are many reasons why we decided on having a 100 member limit. A lot of work is being done to make sure this is causing people as little grief as possible. Eventually we would like to provide ways for larger Families to split into several 100 person ‘divisions’ and then use some kind of alliance functionality to be part of the same larger group. But as to when this will happen, I’m not sure. We really do understand your frustration."
Oh yeah, that's one of their 'ideas' for expanding Families. Divisions. But still 100 members, separate from others in their actual family. That might work for a handful of clans who are set up that way, but the vast majority of families and clans and groups are NOT going to be compatible with that setup. No way. Just increase the freaking limit.

No one even bothered to answer this poor player.

Do you ever feel like we're banging our heads into a brick wall here??
